Introducing Shurtape: Your New Favorite Products

In this blog we are going to focus on an exceptionally exciting topic: tape. Ok, maybe it’s not the first thing that you think of when I say “exceptionally exciting” but hear me out. At Able, you know that we are always looking for new products but also that we won’t swap something without a good reason. Typically, this boils down to one of two things: there is a dissatisfaction with the current product, or the new product is extraordinary.

Shurtape, the newest vendor in the Able family, is extraordinary. Our previous tape offerings were perfectly fine but perfectly fine isn’t good enough. That’s where Shurtape comes in. Like Able, they are a family-owned American company. Unlike Able, they have been around for 140 years, and in that time, they have refined their products and their brand to represent the pinnacle. Everything from the product quality to the packaging is premium.

T-Rex Extreme Tread Tape

Let’s open with something a little different. Calling it tape is a bit of a misnomer, T-Rex Extreme Tread Tape isn’t actually a roll of tape. Instead, it is a three-pack of 2″ x 8″ strips. These strips are basically instant traction patches. Apply them to ladders, on trucks, in walkways, anywhere that could use a little extra grip.

Extreme Tread Tape utilizes a multi-layer process to embed the grit and an OSHA-approved adhesive for tenacious bond that can survive temperatures between -40° and 220° F. These strips can survive even the most extreme Chicago conditions.

FF 100 Reflective Insulation Tape

We love Double Bubble duct insulation. With two layers of insulating bubbles, it offers superior insulation in any forced air application. The only thing that could possibly make it better is bringing in a tape that is custom designed for sealing seams in reflective insulation.

Spoiler Alert: we brought in tape that is custom designed for sealing seams in reflective insulation.

FF 100 Insulation Tape from Shurtape is the perfect complement to Double Bubble or any reflective insulation. There are two major benefits to using FF 100. First, it utilizes a powerful all-weather adhesive that maintains an airtight seal in temperatures ranging from 14° to 176° F. Secondly, is that FF 100 tape is designed to be highly conformable. Basically, that means that it still provides an airtight seal on uneven surfaces. This makes it incredibly valuable in sealing applications since even in the best conditions it can be hard to guarantee a flat space.

In summary:

FF 100 sticks anywhere.
FF 100 sticks in any condition.
FF 100 creates a lasting seal.

EV 077C Electrical Tape

For a while, one of our most-requested items has been a premium electrical tape option and we are thrilled to announce that we have filled that request and then some. Our standard electrical tape is switching over to Shurtape EV 057B. It is a solid UL-rated tape that’s water-resistant and will work fine for applications above freezing.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more powerful, then the EV 077C line is what you need. These tapes are rated up to 600 volts and are both stronger and tougher than the standard option. Specifically, their tensile strength is 25% higher and their weather resistance has been beefed up to include temperatures between 0° and 220° F.

EV 077C tapes are available in black, red, or white.

T-Rex Realtree Edge Camo Duct Tape

If you need heavy duty, they need T-Rex tape.

Why?

All Weather – resists UV and extreme temperatures.
High Tensile Strength – T-Rex duct tape is 2x as strong as the already impressive standard Shurtape duct tape.
